{"id":55,"date":"2007-09-10T18:50:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-11T02:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rifters.com\/crawl\/?p=55"},"modified":"2007-09-10T18:50:00","modified_gmt":"2007-09-11T02:50:00","slug":"bosum-buddies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rifters.com\/crawl\/?p=55","title":{"rendered":"Bosum Buddies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The good folks over at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfsignal.com\/\">SF Signal<\/a> have pointed me to results of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfsignal.com\/archives\/005618.html\">post-Hugo poll<\/a> on their site, suggesting that a strong majority of their 72 respondents seem to think I was robbed.  (This is especially gracious of them since they themselves <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfsignal.com\/archives\/004565.html\">didn&#8217;t like <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Blindsight<\/span> all that much<\/a>.)  What&#8217;s really interesting about this poll, however, is not so much <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Blindsight<\/span>&#8216;s straw-first-place-finish, but the fact that &#8220;No Award&#8221; came in <i>second<\/i>, with twice as many votes as third place got.  To me, this casts the poll itself into question:  a quarter of skiffydom thinks there were <i>no<\/i> award-worthy titles on the whole slate?  I&#8217;m doubtful.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, one element does remain consistent between this wouldashouldacoulda poll and the actual vote at Worldcon:  in both, &#8220;No Award&#8221; and <i>Blindsight<\/i> hung out side by side.
