{"id":2126,"date":"2011-05-13T11:10:03","date_gmt":"2011-05-13T19:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rifters.com\/crawl\/?p=2126"},"modified":"2011-05-13T11:10:03","modified_gmt":"2011-05-13T19:10:03","slug":"late-breaking-live-streaming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rifters.com\/crawl\/?p=2126","title":{"rendered":"Late-Breaking, Live-Streaming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If any of you have gotten bored and glanced over at the <em>Coming Appearances<\/em> slice of the sidebar, you may have noticed the <a href=\"http:\/\/humanityplus.org\/conferences\/parsons\/\">Transhumanism Meets Design<\/a> item coming up this weekend in New York.\u00a0 It&#8217;s an event which, while not present in the flesh, I&#8217;ll be Skyping into around 1400 so that I may riff with fellow panelists Ted Byfield, Perry Hall, and Ed Keller on the subject of  &#8220;OUT THERE \u2014 Self organization, xeno-communication, non-human minds&#8221;.  I didn&#8217;t mention this before now because, well, Skype.  Not actually present in the flesh.\u00a0 And who&#8217;s gonna fork over good bucks just to see me loom cantankerously on a screen like a scruffy Big Brother for half an hour?<\/p>\n<p>It turns out, though, that the whole event is going to be streamed online, so anyone can pop over to <a href=\"http:\/\/humanityplus.org\/conferences\/parsons\/streaming-video\/\">http:\/\/humanityplus.org\/conferences\/parsons\/streaming-video\/<\/a> and experience two days&#8217; worth of transhumanist goodness from the comfort of their own home (program <a href=\"http:\/\/humanityplus.org\/conferences\/parsons\/conference-program\/\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not entirely sure what I&#8217;m going to be saying.  Probably something about how child molesters will be the early adopters who set the ground rules for the coming Singularity.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah.
